βοΈ Understanding the Mechanics
Auto-hinges, also known as Euro-hinges, use a spring mechanism to keep doors closed without a latch. They allow for adjustment in three directions: up-down, left-right, and in-out.
Over time, the weight of the door or frequent use loosens the tension screws. This causes the door to sag or overlap with other doors in the Project.
π Hinge Problem Solving
| Symptom | Cause / Fix |
|---|---|
| Door rubs against bottom frame | Loose mounting screws on the plate |
| Wide gap on the hinge side | Side adjustment screw is too far out |
| Door pops open slightly | Depth screw is too tight pulling door inward |
β Why Doors Sag
- Hanging heavy items like bags on the inside of the door.
- Using low-quality chipboard that cannot grip screw threads tightly.
- Extreme humidity causing the wood panels to expand and add weight.
